Directionally Challenged

On a recent trip home from school I found myself lost. My GPS told me to make a turn. I wasn’t really looking at the sign so I did, then realized I had no idea where I was. I began to freak out a tad…directions are really not my thing. “Great!” I mumbled to myself. “This is not where I wanted to go.” A few minutes down the road I exited, pulled into a gas station, and called my dad. I told him where I was and after looking at the screen-shots of directions I sent him, he said I was where I was supposed to be. Huh? You mean to tell me that I was all worried driving around, thinking I was lost?? “You are exactly where you’re supposed to be,” he said. “You were on the right path the whole time.” Once I was back out on the road I began thinking about what had just happened, laughing at myself I wondered how I could have been so worried over nothing. Then I realized I frequently do this in my everyday life. It’s funny what God will use to grab your attention.
A lot of the time I think we find ourselves freaking out because things aren’t going the way we had planned or hoped they would, or maybe because we feel like we are not where we need to be. What a waste of time. God has you exactly where you are for a reason, even if you can not understand why.
“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8
When we begin to let the enemy fill our heads with fear, we begin to doubt, which is what causes the panic of not being where or doing what we think we need to do. When God takes us down what we feel like is the wrong direction, we have to trust in Him. There is a purpose for everywhere He takes us in life.
“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21
